Following the signing of the IndiaтАУUnited Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) on July 24, 2025, the Indian government has announced a rollout of 1,000 outreach programmes over the next 20 days across the country. These sessionsтАФcomprising workshops, stakeholder meetings, awareness campaigns, and feedback forumsтАФaim to educate businesses, state governments, and citizens on the implications and benefits of the historic pact.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized that while the government is open to concluding a trade deal with the U.S. by early August, it prioritizes protecting national and public interest above all. This dovetails with the outreach effort: ensuring clear understanding that IndiaтАЩs trade partnerships serve broader domestic goals, rather than compromise on sovereignty or economic fairness.

As IndiaтАЩs first-ever comprehensive free trade agreement with a European nation, the IndiaтАСUK CETA opens new avenues for investment, export, and technology transferтАФparticularly in sectors like automobiles, pharmaceuticals, IT services, and agriculture. The outreach drive is a strategic step toward wide-based consensus-building and smooth implementation at the grassroots level.
